The Jospong Group of Companies continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable development through investments and partnerships focused on environmental protection, circular economy development, renewable energy, waste recovery and climate action.

Sustainability has become an important part of the Group’s long-term business strategy, with environmental, social and governance considerations integrated into its approach to investment and business development.

One of the Group’s major areas of focus is the transformation of waste from an environmental challenge into an economic resource.

In August 2024, Jospong Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding with South Korea’s Cheil Engineering Co. Ltd. to explore circular economy opportunities around textile waste recycling and renewable energy projects in Ghana and other African countries.

The collaboration is designed to support the development of systems that recover value from waste while creating opportunities for sustainable economic activity.

Jospong Group has also pursued climate-related initiatives through its waste treatment and recycling operations. In 2023, representatives of the Group and the Swiss Government signed an authorisation document relating to internationally transferred mitigation outcomes connected to selected integrated waste recycling and composting facilities operated by Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

The initiative demonstrated the potential of effective waste management to contribute to climate action while creating opportunities for sustainable financing.

The Group has additionally announced plans to convert more than 1,000 waste collection trucks from diesel technology to electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce emissions from its operations.

Beyond environmental sustainability, Jospong Group’s sustainability agenda includes food security, inclusion, human-capital development and responsible business practices.

The Group has identified sustainability as a long-term responsibility that requires collaboration among government, businesses, communities and development partners.

Through its environmental sanitation businesses, investments in recycling and composting, renewable-energy initiatives and climate-related partnerships, Jospong Group continues to pursue practical approaches to sustainable development across Ghana and Africa.

The Group remains committed to supporting a cleaner environment, promoting resource efficiency and developing business models that generate economic value while contributing to the wellbeing of communities and future generations.
